茨城県五霞町と千葉県野田市関宿付近で利根川から分岐をし、東京湾に流れる江戸川。
いろいろ改修したせいか、直線的であり、サイクリングロードは快適で、郊外から、人口過密地帯へのうつろいを楽しむことができます。全長60㎞程度と、早い人は2時間もあれば走り切ることもできるでしょう。
The Edogawa River branches off from the Tone River near Goka Town, Ibaraki Prefecture and Sekijuku, Noda City, Chiba Prefecture, and flows into Tokyo Bay.
Perhaps because of various renovations, the road is straight and comfortable, and you can enjoy the transition from the suburbs to densely populated areas. The total length is about 60 km, so a fast cyclist can complete the ride in about 2 hours.
スタートは久喜駅を選択しました。お住いの場所によっては、栗橋駅、南栗橋駅などでも構わないと思います。目指すは、関宿の関宿城です。その前に、権現堂堤で彼岸花が咲いていたので寄り道をしました。さて、関宿城は江戸川サイクリングロードの起点でもあるので、多くのサイクリストがおります。
I chose Kuki Station as the starting point. Depending on where you live, Kurihashi Station, Minami-Kurihashi Station, etc. would also be fine. My goal is Sekiyado Castle in Sekiyado. Before that, I made a detour to Gongendo Bank, where the red spider lilies were blooming. Sekijuku Castle is also the starting point of the Edogawa Cycling Road, so there are many cyclists there
関宿城は千葉県ですが、江戸川の分岐付近は実は茨城県だったりします。しばらくは、郊外の景色を眺めながら、ひたすら南進します。野田橋近辺までは、郊外ののどかな景色が続きます。
野田橋を過ぎると、住宅などが多くなり、流山橋付近までは、住宅地が続く感じです。
Sekiyado Castle is in Chiba Prefecture, but the area where the Edogawa River forks is actually in Ibaraki Prefecture. For a while, we head south while taking in the suburban scenery. The idyllic suburban scenery continues until we get to the Noda Bridge area.
After Noda Bridge, there are more houses and the residential area continues until we get to the Nagareyama Bridge area.
渋滞のメッカである流山橋付近を過ぎると、東京のベッドタウンという感じで、住宅が多くなります。武蔵野線を越えると、つくばエキスプレス、常磐線、北総線、京成線、総武線、都営新宿線、東西線とたくさんの線路と交差していきます。また、武蔵野線を桁あたりから、自転車もかなり増えます。そして、篠崎付近で旧江戸川と、江戸川放水路に分かれます。今回は本流となっている江戸川放水路を走り、海に出た後、行徳を走り、市川塩浜駅から戻りました。おおよそ80㎞です。
Once you pass the traffic jam mecca near Nagareyama Bridge, the area becomes more residential, like a Tokyo commuter town. After crossing the Musashino Line, the area crosses many train tracks, including the Tsukuba Express, Joban Line, Hokuso Line, Keisei Line, Sobu Line, Toei Shinjuku Line, and Tozai Line. Also, from around the Musashino Line 100m, the number of bicycles increases significantly. Then, near Shinozaki, the river splits into the old Edogawa River and the Edogawa Floodway. This time, I rode along the Edogawa Floodway, which is the main stream, and after reaching the sea, I rode through Gyotoku and returned from Ichikawa Shiohama Station. It was about 80km.
