本庄児玉といわれると、関越道の渋滞の名所で出てくるイメージですが、そんな本庄児玉に何がある？新幹線の駅に本庄早稲田駅があるけれど、いったい何がある？
そんなわけで、K３でこのエリアをサイクリング探検です。
Honjo-Kodama brings to mind the image of a famous traffic jam spot on the Kan'etsu Expressway, but what exactly is there in Honjo-Kodama? Honjo-Waseda Station is a shinkansen station, but what exactly is there?
So we decided to explore this area by cycling on the K3.
まずは、JR本庄駅付近をポタリング。古い中山道の面影のあるエリアで、旧本条銀行煉瓦倉庫など、古い建築がありました。
First, we went for a bike ride around JR Honjo Station. This area still has the feel of the old Nakasendo road, and there are old buildings such as the former Honjo Bank brick warehouse.
本庄駅エリアから、本庄早稲田駅へ。2005年に新設された新しい駅で、1時間に1本程度しか新幹線は止まりませんが、駅周辺は区画整理がされたのか、きれいに開発されております。名前の通り、早稲田大学の施設（高校、大学院など）があり、本庄早稲田の杜ミュージアムは無料で入れます。
From the Honjo Station area, head to Honjo Waseda Station. This is a new station built in 2005, and only one Shinkansen train stops there per hour, but the area around the station has been redeveloped and nicely developed. As the name suggests, there are Waseda University facilities (high school, graduate school, etc.) around the station, and the Honjo Waseda Forest Museum is free to enter.
児玉町に入り、競進社模範蚕室に寄りました。児玉町は養蚕が盛んだったようです。児玉町旧水道塔、日本神社など児玉町の観光名所を回りました。
We entered Kodama-machi and visited the Kyoshinsha Model Silkworm Rearing Room. It seems that sericulture was popular in Kodama-machi. We visited the tourist attractions of Kodama-machi, such as the Kodama-machi Old Waterworks Tower and the Japanese Shrine.
児玉エリアから、神川町に入り、すぐ金鑽神社があります。武蔵の国二宮の歴史的な神社で荘厳な雰囲気でした。金鑽神社からはほぼ来た道を戻る感じで本庄駅から戻りました。
From the Kodama area, we entered Kamikawa Town and soon found Kanasana Shrine. It is a historic shrine in the second district of Musashi Province and has a solemn atmosphere. From kanasana Shrine, we returned from Honjo Station, almost going back the way we came.
