Cycling along the Ofunato Line from Ichinoseki to Kesennuma. As the name Ofunato Line suggests, the JR line ran to Ofunato, but after the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011, the BRT was introduced from Kesennuma to Mori Station in Ofunato. Unfortunately, even after researching, I couldn't find out whether the BRT has the same rules for carrying bicycles as trains.
Now, if you leave Ichinoseki Station and head along National Route 284, you will reach Kesennuma. The Ofunato Line meanders north from Rikuchu-Monzaki Station to Senmaya Station, but if you are not going to Geibikei, it is better to head straight towards Senmaya. After Senmaya, the route is a bit mountainous and uphill to the Murone Roadside Station. Be careful, as there are not many places to get supplies after Senmaya until the Murone Roadside Station. After the roadside station, you will enter the Kesennuma area. After stopping by the Rias Ark Museum of Art, Oya Coast has a station on the Kesennuma BRT line and a roadside station. There are less than one train per hour on the Ofunato line, but the BRT runs quite frequently, so it looks convenient.
I made a round trip from the southern part of Kesennuma City to the Oya Coast area, covering a total distance of 90 km.

Leave the east exit of Ichinoseki Station and head straight for Senmaya on National Route 284. Roadside Station Kawasaki is a good place to take a rest. Ichinoseki City was formed by merging many towns into one, so Kawasaki Town, Senmaya Town, and others are in the same city, but are quite far apart. There is nothing particularly noteworthy, but there are mysterious stone monuments and the like, so try to find them. The former Senmaya Town is halfway between the former Ichinoseki City and Kesennuma City, and has the atmosphere of a highway town.

After passing Senmaya, we entered the old Murone village. I wanted to climb the sacred mountain, Muroneyama, but it seemed quite tough, so I passed. After taking a rest at a roadside station, we passed the mysterious tree house and entered Kesennuma city.

I stayed at a hotel near Kesennuma Station, and since I was heading to Ofunato the next day, I headed for Oya Beach in the southern part of the city. On the way, I stopped off at the Rias Ark Museum of Art. From Oya Beach, I headed north, passed Kesennuma Port, and climbed Mount Anba.
