高萩市からいわき市へ。メジャーなルートを考えると国道6号線を北上し、途中五浦海岸に寄り道するとかになりますが、今回はあえて山側のルートを通ります。
スタートは高萩駅です。大正時代に改築された歴史ある駅舎で、地元の方によると￥多くの人が写真を撮っていくそうです。高萩駅を後にし、高萩市衛星通信記念公園（さくら宇宙公園）へ向かいます。大きなパラ墓なアンテナが絵になります。その後高萩市内に戻り、高萩八幡宮にお参りした後、歴史的な街並みの雰囲気が残るお屋敷通り、穂積家住宅を訪れました。その後、緩やかな登りで北茨城市の花園神社に向かいます。花園神社からは下り基調ですが、ちょいちょい登りもあります。いわき市内に入り、國魂神社によって、植田駅からの輪行です。
From Takahagi City to Iwaki City. While the more popular route would involve heading north on National Route 6 and making a detour to Izura Beach along the way, this time I decided to take a mountain route.
The start is Takahagi Station. This historic station building was rebuilt in the Taisho era, and according to locals, many people stop by to take photos. Leaving Takahagi Station behind, I headed to Takahagi City Satellite Communications Memorial Park (Sakura Space Park). The large, parabolic antenna is picturesque. After returning to Takahagi City, I visited Takahagi Hachiman Shrine, followed by the Hozumi Family Residence and Oyashiki-dori Street, which retains the atmosphere of a historic townscape. After that, I headed gently uphill to Hanazono Shrine in Kitaibaraki City. From Hanazono Shrine, the route is mostly downhill, with a few uphill sections. Entering Iwaki City, I stopped by Kunitama Shrine before packing my bike from Ueda Station.
外観の意匠が特徴的な高萩駅を後にし、南西に進むと高萩市衛星通信記念公園（さくら宇宙公園）があります。大きなパラボラアンテナが特徴的で、現在では大学の研究に使われているようです。高萩市の市街地に戻り高萩八幡宮にお参り。大きな神社で、この地の氏神的な存在でしょうか。その後、高萩市北部にお屋敷通りというものがあったので立ち寄りました。
Leaving Takahagi Station, with its distinctive exterior design, we head southwest to find Takahagi City Satellite Communications Memorial Park (Sakura Space Park). It features a large parabolic antenna, which is currently used for university research. We returned to Takahagi city center and visited Takahagi Hachimangu Shrine. It is a large shrine, and is perhaps the guardian deity of the area. Afterwards, we stopped off at Yashiki Street in the northern part of Takahagi city.
お屋敷通り・穂積家住宅を後にし花園神社へ向かいます。高速道路沿いの工業団地を抜け、山道に入ります。標高600mを越えるので、数字的には結構上りますが、急登という場面は少ないので、きついという感じではありませんでした。また、里山を抜けるので山の中にいる感じは少ないです。
Leaving Oyashiki Street and the Hozumi Family Residence behind, we headed towards Hanazono Shrine. We passed through an industrial complex along the highway and entered a mountain path. The elevation is over 600m, so it's quite a climb, but there are few steep climbs, so it didn't feel too tough. Also, since we passed through a rural area, it didn't feel like we were in the mountains.
荘厳な花園神社を後にし、いわき市方面へ向かいます。一方的に下るのではなく、結構上りも出てくるので、結構疲れた印象です。國魂神社にお参りした後、植田駅に向かいます。
Leaving the majestic Hanazono Shrine behind, we head towards Iwaki City. It's not just a one-way descent, there are also quite a few uphill sections, so it's quite tiring. After visiting Kunitama Shrine, we head towards Ueda Station.
