南相馬市の国道6号線沿いのホテルをスタート。できる限り海岸線に近い道を北上します。震災で浸水したエリアであり、かなり殺風景な感じでした。あたりは、農地または太陽光発電といった感じでした。相馬市に入り、松川浦の東岸、太平洋と松川浦の間の細い一本道を走ります。松川浦は砂州により太平洋から分離した形で汽水湖になっております。その砂州の上を道路が走っており、景色が素晴らしかったです。
相馬市から、新地町に入り、右近清水の湧き水に寄りました。新地町は、ほかの町より復興が進んでおり、新しく建て替えられた家が多く印象的でした。
新地町を越えて宮城県の山元町に入ります。震災遺構の旧中浜小学校により、やまもと夢いちごの里で昼食をとりました。その後、亘理町に入り、鳥の海に行きました。鳥の海も松川浦と同じく潟湖（ラグーン）です。もっと観光地化されておるのかと思いましたが、静かな湖という感じでした。
We started from our hotel along National Route 6 in Minamisoma City. We headed north along a road as close to the coast as possible. This was an area flooded during the earthquake, and the scenery was quite bleak. Most of the area was farmland or solar power plants. Entering Soma City, we drove along the east shore of Matsukawaura Bay, a narrow road between the Pacific Ocean and Matsukawaura Bay. Matsukawaura Bay is a brackish lake separated from the Pacific Ocean by a sandbar. The road runs along the sandbar, providing a spectacular view.
From Soma City, we entered Shinchi Town and visited the Ukonshimizu spring. Shinchi Town has seen more recovery than other towns, and the many newly rebuilt houses were impressive.
We passed Shinchi Town and entered Yamamoto Town in Miyagi Prefecture. We stopped at the former Nakahama Elementary School, a disaster relic, and had lunch at Yamamoto Yume Ichigo no Sato. Afterwards, we entered Watari Town and headed to Tori-no-umi, a lagoon like Matsukawaura. I thought it would be more of a tourist spot, but it just felt like a quiet lake.
