荒川、江戸川と並んで東京近郊の有名なサイクリングロードである多摩川サイクリングロード。起点となるのは羽村市にある武蔵阿蘇神社。そこから、多摩川沿いに55㎞の距離を東京湾まで続くのが多摩川サイクリングロードになります。
終点の東京湾まで行こうと思いましたが、丸子橋に来たところでタイムアップ。平日に行ったため、帰宅時のラッシュアワーを避けるため早めに武蔵小杉駅から輪行で戻りました。
Tamagawa Cycling Road is a famous cycling road near Tokyo along with Arakawa and Edogawa. The starting point is Musashi Aso Shrine in Hamura City. From there, the Tamagawa Cycling Road continues along the Tama River for a distance of 55 km to Tokyo Bay.
I was planning to go to the last stop, Tokyo Bay, but when I got to the maruko bridge, my time ran out. Since I went on a weekday, I returned early from Musashi-Kosugi Station by bicycle to avoid rush hour on my way home.
まずは最寄りの羽村駅まで輪行をし、武蔵阿蘇神社に向かいます。23区に通勤するにはぎりぎりの場所です。のどかな住宅地を抜け、立派な武蔵阿蘇神社に到着です。
First, we rode to the nearest Hamura Station and headed to Musashi Aso Shrine. It's a perfect location to commute to the 23rd ward. After passing through a peaceful residential area, we arrived at the magnificent Musashi Aso Shrine.
舗装されていない小道に入ると、海から55㎞の標識がありました。舗装されていない区間はせいぜい200ｍほどで、程なくサイクリングロードが始まります。
五日市線、八高線の線路を越えるまでは結構な田舎の風景が広がっております。しかし、八高線を越えたあたりから住宅がどんどん増えていき、マンションなども散見されるようになります。
昭島市を越え、立川市に入ると完全に住宅街となります。堤防の上をづっと走るのですが、時折公園に入ったりと変化があるルートです。ただし、荒川サイクリングロードのように堤防の高さが高くないため、それほど見晴らしがいいわけではありません。
府中市、調布市を越え世田谷区に入ると一気に都会の雰囲気が出ます。タワーマンションをはじめ、高層マンション、高層ビルが林立しております。二子玉川付近は令和元年の東日本台風で、堤防が決壊したため、5年たった今も堤防の工事をしておりました。
二子玉川を越えると、武蔵小杉のタワーマンションが見えてきます。丸子橋を渡り、武蔵小杉駅から輪行で戻りました。50㎞、3時間程度の道のりでした。
There is quite a rural landscape until you cross the Itsukaichi Line and Hachiko Line tracks. However, as you cross the Hachiko Line, the number of houses increases rapidly, and condominiums begin to appear here and there.
Once you cross Akishima City and enter Tachikawa City, it becomes a completely residential area. The route runs all the way over the embankment, but the route changes from time to time as it enters a park. However, the embankment is not as high as the Arakawa Cycling Road, so the view is not as good.
Once you cross Fuchu City and Chofu City and enter Setagaya Ward, you will immediately feel the atmosphere of a big city. There are many tower apartments, high-rise condominiums, and high-rise buildings. The levees near Futakotamagawa collapsed during the East Japan Typhoon in 2019, so levee construction is still underway five years later.
Once you cross Futakotamagawa, you will see the Musashikosugi tower apartment. I crossed Maruko Bridge and returned from Musashikosugi Station by bicycle. The journey was 50km and took about 3 hours.
