常磐線の我孫子駅から、支線の成田線布佐駅に向かいます。布佐駅からすぐ栄橋を渡ると利根町になります。水田と団地が広がる不思議な形をしている利根町。もともと、バブル時に住宅地を開発しただけあって、密集した住宅地帯と、平坦で広い田園地帯のコントラストが大きい町です。
利根町から北上して龍ヶ崎市。多分茨城県で一番かっこよさそうな名前とは裏腹に、龍ヶ崎市駅（佐貫駅）から短い関東鉄道竜ケ崎線の終着部分が町の中心部であり、常磐道や、国道6号線からも離れているので、近いようで遠い町でした。
From Abiko Station on the Joban Line, head to Fusa Station on the Narita Line branch line. Just after crossing Sakae Bridge from Fusa Station, you will arrive in Tone Town. Tone Town has a strange shape with rice fields and housing complexes. Originally developed as a residential area during the bubble economy, the town has a large contrast between the dense residential areas and the flat, wide countryside.
Head north from Tone Town to Ryugasaki City. Contrary to what is probably the coolest name in Ibaraki Prefecture, the center of the town is the terminus of the short Kanto Railway Ryugasaki Line from Ryugasaki City Station (Sanuki Station), and it is far from the Joban Expressway and National Route 6, so it seems close but is a far away town.
布佐駅を出て北上すると、すぐ利根川になります。栄橋を渡ると茨城県利根町になります。栄橋に近い集落であれば十分駅利用圏になりますね。栄橋を渡ってすぐの布川エリアには柳田國男記念公苑がありました。幼少のころ住んでいたようです。
西に向かい、蚊網神社というのがあったので寄ってみました。ここだけ小高い丘になっているようですね。
If you head north from Fusa Station, you will soon come to the Tone River. Once you cross Sakae Bridge, you will be in Tone Town, Ibaraki Prefecture. Any settlement close to Sakae Bridge is well within the station's service area. Just after crossing Sakae Bridge, in the Fukawa area, is the Yanagita Kunio Memorial Park. It seems that Yanagita lived there as a child.
Heading west, I came across Kaami Shrine, so I stopped by. It seems that this is the only place on a small hill.
龍ヶ崎市内に入り、八坂神社、竜ケ崎駅を回り、北上して女化神社へ寄り、牛久駅から戻りました。特に観光地化はされているところではありませんが、古い田舎町を快適に走れました。
I entered Ryugasaki city, went around Yasaka Shrine and Ryugasaki Station, went north to Onobake Shrine, and returned from Ushiku Station. It's not a particularly touristy area, but it was a comfortable ride through the old country town.
