青春18きっぷは輪行するにはかなりお得な切符です。新幹線や特急列車は最後列を取らないと自転車が邪魔になったりしますし、大きな駅から大きな駅間の距離があったりと結構面倒なことが多いです。それに比べると各駅停車ですが、好きな駅で降りられ、しかも乗り放題の青春18きっぷはとても使い勝手がいいです。
今回は関東から高崎線上越線と乗り継いで越後川口駅へ。特に何かあるわけではありませんが、乗っているのが少々疲れたということで降りてみました。
信濃川と魚野川の交わる道の駅で、段丘の上から信濃川を眺め、小千谷市を越えて、『久保田』で有名な朝日酒造の工場を見学し、来迎寺駅から直江津方面に電車で向かいました。約30㎞の道のりです。地図を見たら寳德山稲荷大社がお隣の越後岩塚駅の近くだったので、そこまで走ればよかったと反省しております。
